At Bisoniya hospital replantation of a totally amputated fingers/thumbs/toes is a routine surgery for many years now with almost 100% success rate.

Replanted fingers/thumbs works naturally after wound healing and bony union.

Both thumbs of this patient were replanted by Dr. Hari Singh Bisoniya at Bisoniya Hospital.

How to preserve amputated part while waiting for replantation – clean amputated part, then keep it in a polythene bag, make this bag waterproof and then this bag having amputated part should be kept in another container having ice and water (temp approx 4degree).

There should not be direct contact between amputated part and water/ice.

By preserving amputated part with the above mentioned method, replantable time can be doubled.

Message – don’t throw away any amputated part of the body, it is either replantable or usable in one or other way.
